2015 Red HEARRT Initiative

We are excited to introduce you to the 2015 Red HEARRT Initiative, and I hope you’ll join with me in supporting this great cause.

2015 marks the fifth year of the Go Red & Get Moving campaign – and we’ve accomplished a lot in those five years! Our goal from the outset was to help women of all ages (as well as their loved ones – both male and female) understand the causes and impact of heart disease, and the importance of keeping themselves healthy so that they can lead long and happy lives. In 2010, we started small with a Heart Health Fair – and within the last two years, we expanded the program to include all ages, incorporate the school system, and even successfully broke a world record!

In 2015, we’re excited to continue our expansion! This year’s initiative will include an evening event on February 5th for our community, with the goal of the event is to help women & men to focus on their health, and give them the tools to help both themselves and their loved ones. This will also be the kick-off of the 2015 Triad’s Go Red Activities!!

The day will be incredible! It will include:

  • Heart health assessments completed by the WSSU Nursing Program
  • Zumba sessions and health stations that will include information about the important of fresh food
  • Opportunities to meet with nutritionists, dietitians, massage therapists, and aroma practitioners.

In addition, the day will also include an attempt to break the Guinness world record for a group performing the most sit-ups simultaneously EVER!
