Red H.E.A.R.R.T., Champion and WS-FC Schools Partner for Go Red Day

When we expanded our initiative two years ago to reach the WS/FCS grades K-8, Red H.E.A.R.R.T, over a thousand students and Mayor Allen Joines broke the Guinness World Record for having the most amount of students doing zumbatomic (Zumba for youth). Last year, several thousand students wore red on Friday, February 7, and signed a pledge to “get moving” 30 minutes a day, five days a week – and to put into place one good nutrition practice a day for a 28 day challenge.

This year, we will continue the challenge and pledge – but we’re expanding the program even more!

For the first time in history in the United States, our school district athletics department will partner with Red HEARRT and designate one game during the month of February as a RED HEARRT Go Red day. Yes, we will designate Tuesday, February 10th as Red HEARRT’s Go Red & Get Moving Day in the Schools! The students will wear red, and the high school basketball players will red socks during their basketball games in recognition of Red HEARRT’s Awareness Month.
